Individuals and families have diverse needs, tastes, and lifestyles, and the standard single family home, for all of its upsides, is not always able to accommodate for this diversity. Accessory dwelling units (or ADU’s) such as carriage homes and tiny homes, can be the perfect option for those who do not find themselves gelling with the standard North American housing blueprint. In our opinion, ADU’s can truly be the best-of-both-worlds option that many overlook; the opportunity for increased flexibility and affordability with a smaller blueprint, while not having to compromise in any way on design and functionality. As with any project we undertake, we collaborate with homeowners to ensure every nuanced, personalized detail for the home is considered, and will ultimately be reflected in the final product. When designing this project we wanted to make sure that each home on the street had its own unique design while also fitting in nicely as a neighbourhood.
